About this test

A PSA test measures the level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in your blood – a protein produced by the prostate gland.

Raised PSA levels can be associated with a range of conditions, including prostate enlargement, inflammation, or, in some cases, prostate cancer. This test is commonly used as a screening or monitoring tool, particularly for men over 50 or those with urinary symptoms or a family history of prostate conditions.

It provides a useful starting point for understanding prostate health and deciding whether further assessment may be needed.

    • Levels can be influenced by a range of non-cancerous factors
    • Results should always be interpreted alongside symptoms and clinical history
