Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is a viral infection that usually causes no symptoms or a mild illness, but although rare, can affect the central nervous system. It is spread by tick bites and by eating and drinking unpasteurised “raw” dairy products from infected animals. Vaccination is available for those visiting risk areas.
