Medication for an existing ADHD diagnosis

ADHD medication prescribing and titration

At MakeWell Health and Wellness Clinic in Milton Keynes, we understand the challenges that individuals with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) face on a daily basis. We offer comprehensive treatment options, including medication, to help manage the symptoms and improve the quality of life for those with an existing diagnosis. If you attended Makewell for your initial assessment our clinicians will already have discussed this with you. If you have an existing diagnosis and are waiting to be started on ADHD medication then our team of prescribers can help you.

Our Approach to Medication for ADHD

When it comes to medication for ADHD, we believe in a personalised and holistic approach. We take into consideration the unique needs and goals of the individual, as well as any existing medical conditions or medications they may be taking.

Choosing the right medication is a critical step in managing the symptoms of ADHD. Our clinic offers a range of FDA-approved medications that have been proven to be effective in reducing symptoms and improving daily functioning. We carefully evaluate each patient’s medical history, symptoms, and lifestyle factors to determine the most suitable medication for their specific needs.

If you have an existing diagnosis our team will ask you to forward a copy of your initial assessment report. Then we will invite you for a one-hour consultation with one of our prescribers. This can be onsite at Makewell or online. At the end of the consultation, if both parties agree, then you will receive a private prescription. If you are local to us in Milton Keynes, you can collect this and we can also dispense the medication for you from our onsite Pharmacy. The cost of the medication will be additional. Otherwise, the prescription will be posted via recorded delivery, and you can take it to any Pharmacy.

Our Commitment to Patient Care

At MakeWell Health and Wellness Clinic, we prioritise the well-being and satisfaction of our patients. We understand that each individual’s journey is unique, and we provide ongoing support and monitoring to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the prescribed medication. Our healthcare professionals regularly evaluate the treatment plan, making any necessary adjustments to achieve optimal results. As you start your medication our team will provide you with a direct email address to our specialists to communicate any questions, concerns, and feedback once you start.

Our clinicians will also arrange for the first medication review once you have been taking it for approx. 4wks. Again, this can be face to face or online. Each medication review (30 minutes) will be charged at £250. This includes the cost of the private prescription (£40) but you will need to continue to pay for the medication.

Everyone responds differently, on average though, we would expect to see you for around 3 reviews before being sure we have stabilised your treatment. At this stage we would speak to your GP to ask if they will agree to a Shared Care Agreement. Some GPs may not agree to this, so it is worth enquiring with them at an early stage. If your prescriptions cannot be taken over by the NHS, then we are able to continue to provide private prescriptions for you. These are charged at £40 each if not included in a consultation.

Even if the NHS take over your prescriptions, adults need to have a review with a specialist annually and children every 6 months, so we are likely to continue to need to support you.
