Yellow fever (YF) is caused by a virus which circulates between infected monkeys or humans and mosquitoes. The virus can cause an illness that results in jaundice, bleeding and damage to the major organs. Severe disease can be fatal.
Yellow fever vaccines offer good protection from the disease. To prevent international spread of yellow fever, some countries may require proof of vaccination or a Medical Letter of Exemption (MLoE) where a health professional advises that an individual should not be vaccinated on medical grounds prior to entry. As a licenced Yellow Fever Centre, we provide certification to people who we vaccinate.
