Meningitis ACWY Vaccination

Private Meningitis ACWY Vaccination in Milton Keynes
From£57.00

What is the Meningitis ACWY Vaccine?

The Meningitis ACWY vaccine provides protection against four strains of meningococcal bacteria: A, C, W, and Y. Meningitis is a serious, potentially life-threatening infection causing inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Without prompt treatment, it can lead to brain damage, hearing loss, limb loss, and in severe cases, death.

Who Should Be Vaccinated?

The vaccine is suitable for anyone aged 2 years and older. It is particularly recommended for:

  • Travellers to countries where meningococcal disease is more prevalent, including the meningitis belt of sub-Saharan Africa
  • Pilgrims attending Hajj or Umrah — a mandatory requirement set by Saudi Arabia
  • Seasonal workers travelling to Saudi Arabia
  • University and college students up to age 25 who may have missed their routine vaccination
  • Individuals at increased medical risk due to underlying health conditions
  • Those who have not previously received the MenACWY vaccine

Protection Provided

  • Immunity against four major meningococcal strains (A, C, W, and Y)
  • Significant reduction in risk of severe complications including meningitis and septicaemia
  • Meets mandatory entry requirements for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims
  • Peace of mind when travelling to high-risk destinations

Vaccination Schedule

For most travellers, a single dose of the MenACWY vaccine provides sufficient protection. Your clinician will review your history and advise whether a booster is required based on previous vaccination records and intended destination.

What’s Included

Your appointment includes a travel health consultation with an experienced clinician, professional vaccine administration, and personalised advice on risk assessment for your destination. Prices may vary depending on supplier charges — please contact the clinic for the most up-to-date pricing.
