For the most accurate results, please follow these guidelines

  • Timing: Take your sample between 6–10am
  • Health status: Take your test when any short-term illness has resolved

Cycle timing (if applicable)

  • Ideally days 2–5 of your cycle (day 3 preferred)
  • Can be taken at any time if you do not have periods

Before testing

  • Avoid heavy exercise for 48 hours
  • Fast for 12 hours (water only) for accurate omega results

Sleep patterns

  • If your sleep pattern is unusual, test within 2 hours of waking and inform us
  • Hydration: Stay well hydrated

Medications

  • You may take medication as normal
  • Corticosteroids may affect results — check with your doctor

Supplements

  • Avoid vitamins/minerals for 24 hours
  • Avoid omega-3 supplements until after your test
  • Avoid biotin for 48 hours (check with your doctor if prescribed)
  • Avoid vitamin B12 for 2 weeks prior (seek medical advice if prescribed)

Hormonal treatments

  • Hormonal contraception can affect results
  • Consider testing after natural cycles resume for more accurate results

Thyroid medication

  • Take after your test where possible
  • If testing later, leave 6 hours after levothyroxine (12 hours for DTE/T3)
  • Inform us if taking lithium or amiodarone
